Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and NS200 2024: A Closer Look at the Upgrades and Pricing

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and NS200 2024: A Closer Look at the Upgrades and Pricing

Bajaj Auto recently launched the 2024 editions of the popular Pulsar motorcycles with license plate numbers NS160 and NS200. These new models come with significant updates and improvements. However, there has been a significant increase in price, with the NS160 priced at Rs 1.46 lakh and the NS200 priced at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom). In this article, we will discuss the major changes and features introduced in these new versions and analyze whether the cost increase justifies the upgrade.

Pricing Update

The latest version of the Pulsar with license plate number NS160 comes with a premium price of Rs 9,000 more than its predecessor, while the Pulsar with plate number NS200 has seen an increase of Rs 5,000. This significant increase in price has piqued the interest of many and raised questions about the logic behind the decision. We have contacted Bajaj for clarification on this matter and are awaiting their response.

Notable Upgrades:

1.LED Headlight Units:

One notable change is the transition from halogen to LED headlight units. The latest design highlights two central LED units that are flanked by unique lightning bolt-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The headlight cowls have smoother lines than earlier models, adding a more contemporary appearance.

2.LCD Instrument Console with Bluetooth Connectivity:

Both vehicles with plate numbers NS160 and NS200 now have modern LCD instrument consoles that are backlit to display information clearly. These upgrades come with Bluetooth connectivity that allows features like call and SMS notifications, phone battery percentage, signal level and turn-by-turn navigation. The console also provides important information like distance remaining before refueling, real-time mileage and average mileage readings.

3.Reworked Switchgear:

The left switchgear has been redesigned to include controls for navigating through the new display, resulting in a more convenient and seamless experience when accessing advanced features of the instrument console.

Design and Mechanical Aspects:

Despite receiving significant updates, both the bikes retain the iconic silhouette and styling cues that have made the Pulsar NS series popular. In terms of mechanicals, the NS160 is still powered by the same 160.3cc, single-cylinder engine, producing 17.2PS and 14.6Nm of torque. Similarly, the NS200 still retains its 199.5cc, single-cylinder engine, which generates 24.5PS of power and 18.74Nm of torque.

Evaluating the premium:

An important question that arises with the 2024 Pulsars bearing plate numbers NS160 and NS200 is whether the significant increase in price is justified by the upgrades offered. Although the LED headlights and Bluetooth-connected instrument console are undoubtedly modern and attractive, the fundamental mechanics and design elements of the car remain mostly unchanged

NS160 and NS200 Premium Analysis:

As for the NS160, the insurance premium appears to be extremely high, especially considering that the primary upgrades are a new headlight and console. It will be important to observe the market response and rider reaction to determine whether these modifications are attractive enough to justify the increased cost
The NS200 may have received relatively more positive feedback due to its powerful engine. However, it remains to be seen whether the growth justifies the premium of Rs 5,000.

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and NS200 receive some notable upgrades in the form of LED headlights and an upgraded instrument console equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. However, the pricing strategy, especially the substantial premium for the NS160, has raised some questions and triggered scrutiny. Over time, we'll see how the market reacts to these updates and whether riders see the enhancements as valuable additions that justify the higher price tag. Bajaj's response to inquiries about the pricing decision will also provide valuable information about the company's strategy and the perceived value of these upgrades from the manufacturer's perspective.
